Newspaper Design

  1. What is the name of your single favorite newspaper front page? Why is it your favorite?
  2. Post an image of your favorite to your blog.
  3. What city and state is the paper from?
  4. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it?
  5. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite?
  6. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.
  7. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.

Die Tageszeitung is my favorite because the front cover is really interesting and colorful. The newspaper is from Berlin, Germany. My favorite headline is the one with the big image. They are seven stories in the front page. The title is always at the top including the date, they include a big headline, and the are long. Some newspapers are just white and black, they have a lot of text, they have many picture, and they are smaller.

My Favorite Cover

#18 ESPN The Magazine (June 29, 1998)
This ESPN The Magazine cover portrays Michael Jordan jumping against an all-white background in his Chicago Bulls uniform. Two weeks after winning his sixth title with the Bulls, the corresponding article speculates whether or not Jordan will retire from basketball. Jordan retired on January 13, 1999, but two years later signed a deal to play for the Washington Wizards. On April 16, 2003, Jordan played his last game and announced his final retirement.

Parts of a Magazine Cover

  1. Masthead-The name of the magazine
  2. Dateline-Month and year of publication
  3. Main image-The front cover image big enough to stand out on the news-stand
  4. Model credit-The subjects name
  5. Cover line- Text which are distributed around the main image without detracting from it too much.
  6. Main cover line-This is very large text taking up almost a quarter of the magazine cover
  7. Bar code-Standard bar code used by retailers often include publication date and price
  8. Cover lines- Text which are distributed around the main image without detracting from it too much.
  9. Selling line-Short, sharp description of the title's main marketing point
  10. Left third-The title must stand out in this part of the magazine. It is vital for sales in shops where the magazine is not shown full-frontage

Best Photos of 2015

Is one of my favorite picture of the year because it really emotional. The emotion of the lady is really hard to tell but she is sad. This picture shows simplicity because it has a blurry dark background.

This photograph is one of my favorite of the year because it is a unique photograph is particularly rare as it coincides with a lunar eclipse this year, a combination that has not happened since 1982 and won’t happen again until 2033. The center of interest in the red orange moon in the center of the photograph. The photograph contains simplicity because the background is black.

This photograph is one of my favorite of the year because it was take on a shrinking arm of the Oroville Lake reservoir in California and it shows how bad the drought is. The way the boats are arranged in the lake create two leading lines. The angle the photograph is taken creates depth as you can see where the river is leading.
